Dr Adrian Draper MBBS MD FRCP

Dr. Adrian Draper graduated from the University of London. He trained in respiratory and general medicine across various hospitals in London. His research focused on occupational asthma for an MD thesis at Royal Brompton Hospital, and he completed his training at St George’s Hospital, where he was appointed as a consultant physician in 2003.

In his clinical practice, Dr. Adrian Draper addresses all aspects of lung disease, with a special interest in lung cancer, occupational lung disorders, and interstitial lung diseases. He serves as the clinical director for specialist medicine and is the lead clinician for both respiratory health and lung cancer services at St George’s Hospital. Additionally, he was the chair of the South West London Cancer Network Lung Tumour Working Group until 2012.

At the end of 2011, together with Mr. I Hunt, Dr. Draper initiated the regional endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) service at St George’s. This minimally invasive technique is vital for sampling lymph glands to help diagnose and stage lung cancer and other lung conditions.

Dr. Draper also runs a rapid access clinic at St George’s and has contributed to the development of “near patient tests” through chest ultrasound, enabling safe, rapid investigation of chest disease both in clinics and on the wards. He is an advanced life support instructor for the UK Resuscitation Council and has lectured extensively, contributing to courses in thoracic ultrasound and chest radiology at St George’s Hospital. His involvement in clinical research includes supervising original works that have been presented at national and international meetings.
